Gate sanctuary discovered at Minoan palace excavation
A significant and rare discovery has emerged from this year's excavation at the Minoan Palace of Archanes on Crete.
Archaeologist Dr Efi Sapouna-Sakellaraki has continued her research to complete the understanding of the three-story building, which, along with Knossos, played a crucial role in the development of Minoan civilization.
51 migrants found on Cretan beach
A total of 51 migrants, among them four women and six children, were found on a beach in southern Crete on Friday night.
They were located on a beach in the Tris Ekklisies area in the Archanes-Asterousia municipality, in Iraklio prefecture.
The migrants have been transferred to an accommodation facility.

Rain causes damage in Crete, power cuts in Attica
Heavy rainfall early on Saturday led to roads and bridges flooding in the Cretan prefecture of Iraklio. In Lasithi meanwhile, floodwater trapped several people in their homes, taxing the EMAK rescue services and regional firefighting services who received numerous calls.

New discoveries made at Zominthos palace site
The Minoan palace of Zominthos was a complex with three-story buildings grounded in the rock at 1,200 meters above sea level. As early as 2000 BC, worshippers started placing offerings in clefts in the rock, such as "egg cups" - simple cup-shaped vases with a disc-like base - both painted and plain.

Prince Charles and Camilla in Crete on last leg of official visit
On the third and last day of an official visit to Greece, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were on Crete on Friday.
The royal couple flew into the port of Irakleio on a private aircraft and were received by the Archbishop of Crete Irinaios, the regional governor Stavros Arnaoutakis and the Mayor of Irakleio Vasilis Lambrinos among other local officials.
