One suspect has been shot dead in a counter-terrorism raid in Brussels linked to last year's terror attacks in Paris in which 130 people were killed, the BBC reported on Tuesday.

As many as two other suspects are reportedly on the run after Belgian police raided an apartment in Forest, a south Brussels suburb, according to the BBC.

France will commemorate the victims of the attacks in Paris on November 13 by holding a national memorial service on Friday.

The service in the French capital will bring together 1000 people at the Les Invalides complex, with French President Francois Hollande to address families of the victims.

Europe-wide tension has recently increased following the terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov.

Brussels struggled to return to normal on Nov. 25 after four days on maximum terror alert, with schools and the metro reopening despite suspects from the Paris attacks still being at large.

Brussels will remain at the highest security threat level for another week over fears of an imminent terror attack, the Belgian government said Nov. 23, amid a continued manhunt to find a key suspect in the Paris attacks on Nov. 13 that killed 130 people.

A fourth person has been charged with terror offences in Belgium in connection with the November 13 deadly attacks in Paris, SkyNews reported on Monday, citing police sources.

Sixteen people have been detained after an hours-long police operation in Brussels on Sunday, Belgian police have confirmed.

Most media outlets quote officials as saying that Salah Abdeslam, the man sought over the attacks in Paris last Friday, is not among the detained.
