Table tennis player Jorgić knocked out of Olympic singles event after historic feat
Tokyo – Slovenia’s Darko Jorgić, who advanced to the quarter finals in the men’s singles table tennis event at the Tokyo Olympics in what was the best Slovenian Olympic result in table tennis so far, will not compete for medals in this category as he lost to the sixth-ranked Lin Yun-Ju of Taiwan on Wednesday.
Tennis: Andreea Mitu and Monica Niculescu advance to Wimbledon ladies' doubles second round
Romanian tennis players Andreea Mitu and Monica Niculescu qualified for the second round of ladies' doubles event at Wimbledon, the third Gland Slam of the year, as they defeated Nicole Melichar (US) and Demi Schuurs (Netherlands) 6-2, 6-3. Mitu and Niculescu managed a remarkable victory, in one hour and 23 minutes, against the fourth seeded pair.

Tennis: Monica Niculescu, semifinalist in doubles event at Hobart (WTA)
The pairing made of Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu and Chinese player Zhaoxuan Yang qualified on Wednesday for the doubles event of the WTA tournament of Hobart, Australia, with total prizes worth 250,000 USD, after they won 6-1, 6-4 against Romanian - Kazakh pair Raluca Olaru/Galina Voskoboeva.
Iran Beat Bulgaria at FIVB World Championship
Iran earned their second win in a row at the 2018 FIVB Men's World Championship Thursday night.
The Iranian team defeated the hosts 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19) and got level on points with world champions Poland at the top of Pool D.
Team Melli had started the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Puerto Rico on Wednesday.

Lajovic beats Lacko to advance to Indian Wells second round
INDIAN WELLS - Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic is through to the second round of the Indian Wells ATP tournament after beating Slovak Lukas Lacko 6-4, 6-4 on Friday.
Lajovic, who won after 84 minutes of play, will next face South Korean Hyeon Chung, who was seeded in the first round.
