The “Kolonaki” station of the new Metro Line 4 is “running”
A “small miracle” is taking place 35 meters below one of the busiest areas of downtown Athens, Kolonaki. Behind the green-decorated protective metal sheets of the construction site, in one of the most emblematic areas of the city center, one of the most important projects for Athens is taking place. The “Kolonaki station” of Line 4 of the Athens Metro.
Rental rates in Attica rose 7.6% in a year
House rentals in Thessaloniki are now more expensive than in the center of Athens, although in both cases the rate hikes have been significant the last year, with the capital seeing a mean rise of 7.6%, per the latest annual report of RE/MAX Greece.

Flood risks loom along Kifissos River
Local mayors along the Kifissos River in Athens have raised alarm about the potential for catastrophic flooding, with 250,000 residents and vital infrastructure at risk.
A recent National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) report highlights the southern stretch of the river as the most vulnerable, warning that the area is already at its limit for stormwater drainage.

Pharos, a bridge for education
The 2024 Pharos Summit, a key event promoting collaboration between Greek and US universities, is under way in Athens, with 20 American institutions attending, including Cornell, Michigan and Texas A&M.
It aims to foster partnerships, particularly in postgraduate programs and short-term study opportunities for US students in Greece.

Service on the Athens metro was thrown into upheaval and a courthouse was evacuated on Thursday following an early morning bomb threat that was emailed to authorities.
Man dies after falling from bridge onto Athens metro tracks
A man has died after falling from a bridge onto a metro line in Athens.
The incident occurred on a pedestrian bridge in Marousi, between the KAT and Marousi stations on the green Line 1.
Police and firefighters attended at the the scene.

Fire breaks out in downtown Athens public park
A fire broke out Tuesday evening in Pedion tou Areos, one of Athens' largest public parks.
The fire, near Alexandras Avenue, may have been sparked by a flare, according to witnesses.
The fire service reported that the fire was quickly contained. Police also responded at the scene.
