Greek academic gets two life sentences in poisoning case
A Greek court has sentenced a university lecturer to two life terms for the fatal poisoning by arsenic of his wife and her grandmother several years ago.
The court ruled late Thursday that the 46-year-old geology lecturer at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki gradually poisoned his 34-year-old wife and her 85-year-old grandmother in August 2013.

Elderly man hospitalised after accidental fire
An elderly man who used a candle to light his home in the village of Portes in Achaia after his electricity was knocked out by a storm on Thursday night was transferred to the hospital on Friday with serious burns.
According to sources, the man tripped and fell, knocking the candle over and starting a fire that spread quickly, leaving him with serious burns.

Radiation detected in Greece’s atmosphere!
Small quantities of radioactivity were detected in the atmosphere of our country, as announced by the Greek Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC).
According to the Commission, the quantities are considered to be extremely small and were detected between the September 27th and October 5th. In particular, it is the isotope, ruthenium-106 (Ru-106) and its source is unknown.

Source of Radiation Found in Varna
A source of radiation was found in a resident building in Varna in a garage near "Slivnitsa" Blvd, according to bTV.
After the control check by the authorities, the material which is stored in a box was identified.
According to the witnesses, the material is iridium 192, in a depleted uranium container. No elevated norms were established outside the premises.
