Turkic grouping to change its name to Organization of Turkic States: Turkish FM

Amid other changes to boost their institution, the grouping of Turkic countries will change its name to the Organization of Turkic States, Turkey's foreign minister said on Nov. 11.

Addressing fellow foreign ministers of the Turkic Council ahead of a leaders' summit on Friday, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu welcomed Turkmenistan, which has attended the council as an observer state.

Turkish FM speaks to Iraqi premier, Turkmenistan counterpart

Turkey's foreign minister on Nov. 8 extended his get-well wishes to Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi after explosive-laden drones targeted his residence.

Over the phone, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu once again "strongly condemned" the terror attack where explosive-laden drones targeted the residence of Al-Kadhimi early on Sunday, according to diplomatic sources.

Turkey, Uzbekistan to ‘work together on Afghanistan’

Turkey and Uzbekistan will "work together on Afghanistan," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Sept. 26. 

In a Twitter post following his meeting with Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov in Istanbul, Çavuşoğlu said: "We will further increase our trade with the Preferential Trade Agreement."

"We will mutually recognize the vaccination certificates," he added.

FM Çavuşoğlu discusses ties with counterparts in New York

Turkey's foreign minister on Sept. 20 held separate meetings with his Colombian, Venezuelan, Bahraini counterparts in New York.

Meeting with Colombian Vice President and Foreign Minister Marta Lucia Ramirez, Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the two countries will finalize agreements to encourage trade and investment.

FM Çavuşoğlu meets with UN chief ahead of high-level week

Top Turkish diplomat Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met on Sept. 17 with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as the international body prepares to host leaders from across the world next week.

Çavuşoğlu said his meeting with the U.N. chief focused on a number of regional and international issues, including Cyprus, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and climate change.

Turkish foreign minister meets Balkan officials

Turkey's foreign minister on Sept. 13 separately met with the recently appointed high representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the Serbian president of the National Assembly.

In a Twitter post, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: "Pleased to host Christian Schmidt, recently appointed High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina."

Int'l efforts needed to resolve refugee matter: Turkish FM

The international community's efforts are needed to solve the migration problem, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Sept. 12.

"If this [migration] is a global problem, we must work together as the international community to solve it," Çavuşoğlu told journalists in the southern Turkish resort city of Antalya.
