Turkish foreign minister meets Syrian opposition figures

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Sept. 9 met with Syrian opposition figures in the capital Ankara.

Çavuşoğlu met with Salem Al-Meslet, head of the National Coalition of Syrian Opposition; Anas Abdeh, president of the Syrian Negotiation Commission; and head of the Syrian Interim Government Abdurrahman Mustafa.

Turkey cannot take new refugee burden, foreign minister says

Turkey cannot take the burden of a new migrant wave from Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Aug. 29 after talks with his German counterpart.

"As Turkey, we have sufficiently carried out our moral and humanitarian responsibilities regarding migration," Çavuşoğlu said, speaking in a joint news conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

FM Çavuşoğlu meets with numerous world diplomats

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with numerous top diplomats and heads of international organizations on June 19 on the occasion of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) in southern Turkey.

Çavuşoğlu started the day with a trilateral meeting with the participation of foreign ministers of Malta and Libya, Evaris Bartolo and Najla Mangoush, respectively in Antalya.

Slovenia to back Turkey for EU membership

Slovenia's Foreign Minister Anze Logar on May 4 pledged to play a constructive role for Turkey's membership in the
European Union.

Speaking at a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Logar said that Slovenia will encourage dialogue between the EU and Turkey during its mandate as president of the Council of the European Union.
