Romanian Officials 'Dodging Accountability for Protest Violence'
Romanian government officials came under heavy criticism from the opposition and civil society organisations on Tuesday for dodging accountability over the security forces' use of violence against anti-corruption protesters on August 10.
The clashes left 452 wounded, including journalists and a group of Israeli tourists who happened to be in the area.
Bahrain summons Iraqi ambassador to protest VP remarks on executions
Bahrain's Foreign Ministry summoned Iraq's ambassador in Manama to protest against remarks by Iraqi officials denouncing the execution of men convicted of a 2014 bomb attack, state news agency BNA said on Jan. 16, Reuters reported.
The execution on Jan. 15 of three men, whose attack killed three policemen, has drawn condemnation from rights groups. Iran called it a "reckless" act.
Montenegro Justifies Use of Force Against Protests
Montenegro's Interior Ministry has defended police actions against anti-government protesters last year, saying they acted professionally, lawfully and in a restrained manner, in spite of being directly attacked.
