Istanbul’s historical places increase visitor numbers

As Istanbul's historical sites are flooded with visitors, historical structures affiliated with the National Palaces in the country welcomed more than 7 million visitors in 2023.

The number of visitors to the palaces, mansions, pavilions and museums increased by 9 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching 7,261,241.

Boats set sail for the first Bosphorus race of the year

More than 40 competitors have participated in the first sailing race of the year on the Bosphorus in Istanbul, one of the most challenging sailing race courses in Türkiye, famous for its strong currents coming from the north.

Organized by Bahçeşehir University for the 11th time this year, the BAU Bosphorus Sailing Cup saw more than 40 sailboats set sail on the strait.

Mecidiye Mansion opened to visitors for 1st time

The Mecidiye Mansion of Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid, which has been inaccessible to anyone but the official for 165 years, has been opened to visitors for the first time in its history, with the partial completion of the restoration in Topkapı Palace in Istanbul.

Fatih Mansion, Seferli Ward, Treasury Ward in the complex of the place were kept closed since 2014.

Türkiye’s first zoology museum to reopen

Türkiye's first zoology museum will be reopened seven years later after being relocated due to earthquake risk.

In 2105, a demolition decision was taken for the museum, which was opened in Istanbul's Beyazıt districts in 1933.

Within the scope of the decision, the museum's collections were taken under protection in the warehouses of Istanbul University for seven years.

Istanbul’s Şişli named most-developed district in Turkey

Istanbul's Şişli has been named Turkey's "most developed district" in a study conducted by the Industry and Technology Ministry.

The Çankaya district in Ankara ranked second, followed by Beşiktaş and Kadıköy in Istanbul. Yenimahalle, another district in the capital, came fifth in the ranking.
