Billboards in Bulgaria Featuring LGBT Couples were Vandalised

Billboards featuring LGBT+ couples and the slogan "It's not scary, it's just love—Different People, Equal Rights" have sparked controversy in Bulgaria, reports Pink News. 

The street posters were installed this week in various Bulgarian cities as part of a European Commission-funded project by a group of six Bulgarian non-governmental organisations, aimed at tackling homophobia.

Homophobic Vandals Destroy LGBT Billboard in Bulgaria

Vandals in the seaside town of Varna on Wednesday destroyed a billboard featuring two men hugging in front of the Bulgarian parliament, with the caption: "Nothing to be afraid of. It's just love".

After green paint was splashed on it, it was later slit through with a sharp object, local media reported.

Election Campaign Starts in Bulgaria

The official election campaign for the snap parliamentary elections started on Friday. It will continue until 24:00 hrs on March 24 after which all campaigning will be banned until the end of the election day on March 26.
There are 20 parties and coalitions which registered candidates lists. According to preliminary information, there are 4,732 candidates for parliamentary deputies.
