Debate highlights ethical aspects of AI, warns of risks
Ljubljana – Respecting ethical principles and human rights is key for artificial intelligence (AI) technology to inspire trust, heard a virtual debate on Tuesday. Legislation should be amended to become, among other things, more adaptable as future innovations will pose additional challenges and risks, said the participants.
Koritnik on digital transformation of cities amid epidemic
Ljubljana – Addressing the online CityxCity Festival 2021 conference, Public Administration Minister Boštjan Koritnik talked about the epidemic-era digital transformation of cities on Wednesday. Cities and communities are turning into starting points for society’s digital transformation, he said, warning that some of these efforts were underfunded.
New law reduces financial obligations of municipalities
Ljubljana – The National Assembly unanimously passed on Monday legislation that reduces the financial obligations of municipalities by shifting several major outlays, for example health insurance premiums for the unemployed, onto the state budget.
Minister announces national programme for AI
Montreal – Public Administration Minister Boštjan Koritnik took part on Friday in a virtual session of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, the first meeting of the alliance founded this summer. Koritnik said Slovenia was working on a national AI programme.
