Ministry launches project to open 100 new public beaches
The Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ministry has announced a new project aimed at opening 100 new beaches for public use, funded by revenue generated from the installation of mooring buoys for yachts.
The initiative, part of the ministry's "The Seas are for the People" project, seeks to remove barriers that prevent citizens from accessing the sea.
Türkiye needs to invest more in marinas to boost capacity
Türkiye needs to invest more in building additional marinas along its coasts as insufficient capacity leads to a spike in the cost of mooring boats, according to the representatives from the industry.
The total capacity of around 25 to 30 marinas in Türkiye is around 6,500 berths, said Murat Bekiroğlu, the president of the Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED).
Internautica boat show back after four years
Slovenia's biggest boat show, Internautica, has returned after a four-year absence, bringing to Portorož Marina what the organisers said is a flagship programme that features premieres of a number of sportsboats, yachts, sailing boats and inflatable boats.

Boat skipper in deadly accident to face judge
The 44-year-old French skipper of an inflatable boat that slammed into a fishing boat, killing two people and severely injuring one, will face an examining magistrate Monday in the southern Greek city of Nafplio.
The accident occurred Friday night near the resort of Porto Heli, about 200 kilometers south of Athens.

Drifting Greek passenger ferry towed to safety
Greek passenger ferry Melina II issued a distress signal on Tuesday after suffering engine failure off the coast of Syros amid high winds.
Two commercial ships nearby sought to assist the vessel and the coast guard arranged for a towboat to retrieve it.

Two small boats sink at Lavrio port
A Cypriot-flagged cargo vessel, Alios, collided against a floating platform before hitting and sinking two smaller boats docked at Lavrio port, southeast of Athens, late on Friday.
The incident occurred after the Cypriot vessels mooring ropes came loose as a result of strong winds blowing in the area.
