A deputy from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has asked in a parliamentary question about the sharp rise in Turkey's main stock exchange Borsa Istanbul on April 10, claiming that Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci had already forecasted this rise. 

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will seek a strategic stake in Turkey's main stock exchange and collaborate on developing a gold trading platform for use by majority-Muslim countries, part of a broad agreement signed on Nov. 23.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has vowed Turkey will soon launch a specialized commodity exchange, adding that the warehousing responsibilities of Turkey's Grain Office (TMO) would be transferred to the private sector gradually and the office would play a watchdog role in regulating prices. 

Turkey's main stock exchange, Borsa Istanbul, has announced the launching of a training program for employees of Bosna Bank International (BBI) in line with a memorandum of understanding with the bank to facilitate the mutual exchange of know-how and experience.

A total of 16 employees will receive training for one year from Borsa Istanbul and Turkey's Kuveyt Türk, it added. 

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Borsa Istanbul have finalized the bank's purchase of a 10 percent stake in the Turkish stock exchange.

Turkey's main stock exchange, Borsa Istanbul, has begun single trading sessions, using technology from its partner, the U.S. NASDAQ exchange, it said in a statement on Nov. 30.

Borsa Istanbul has become a hub for companies that generated more than $100 billion in profits between 2010 and 2014, its CEO said during the opening speech of the second International Borsa Istanbul Finance and Economics Conference on Oct. 1.

The trading of Turkish equity index derivatives products on the London Stock Exchange Derivatives Market will start on Sept. 14, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has said following a partnership agreement signed between the LSEG and Borsa Istanbul earlier this year.

A planned initial public offering (IPO) by Borsa Istanbul that was originally planned for the second quarter of next year may be delayed if necessary due to downward factors, the exchange's chief has said. 

Developing Borsa Istanbul is an important component of building the Istanbul financial hub, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Director for Turkey Jean-Patrick Marquet told Anadolu Agency in an interview on June 5.
