A British-Iranian woman controversially jailed months ago in Tehran after trying to attend a men's volleyball match was released on bail Nov. 23 pending an appeal court verdict, her family said.
      

The international volleyball federation FIVB on Nov. 9 said it will not allow Iran to host international events as long as women are banned from attending the game.
      
The announcement comes a week after a British-Iranian women, Goncheh Ghavami, was jailed by a Tehran court, five months following her arrest in the city after trying to attend a volleyball match.

Ghoncheh Ghavami, a 25-year-old law graduate from London, is protesting because the judge has yet to confirm her one-year prison sentence, making it official, her brother said.
      

A Tehran court has jailed for one year a British-Iranian woman who was arrested after trying to attend a volleyball match, in a decision condemned Nov. 2 as an outrage.
