Hungary sides with Poland in EU row

The Hungarian foreign ministry has declared its support for Poland which is under fire from the European Commission over its domestic judicial reforms.

"We stand by Poland, and we call on the European Commission not to overstep its authority," Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in a statement Thursday as quoted by Reuters.

EC: Serbia expected to see stable growth over next two years

BRUSSELS - The European Commission expects Serbia's economic growth to stabilise over the next two years as, in 2016, the economy expanded 2.8 pct faster than expected.

This is one of the conclusions of a yearly overview and country assessments of 2017-2019 Economic Reform Programmes of the Western Balkan countries and Turkey, issued by the European Commission.

Serbia will be ready to open 5 more chapters by end of June

Serbia will by the end of June be ready to open five negotiation chapters in its EU accession talks, Serbia's chief negotiator with the Tanja Miscevic has said.

It is still unknown when the next intergovernmental conference in Brussels will be held and how many chapters we will open, but we are maintaining the pace of the process, Miscevic said, according to Tanjug.
