Osman Hamdi painting to go on display in NY
As part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Turkish Republic, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will organize the 100th Anniversary Gala event on Oct. 25, with an exhibition featuring Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey's painting "Girl Reading the Qur'an" and artwork from Burhan Doğançay's "Ribbons" series.

Istanbul’s ‘most elegant peddler’ dies aged 71
Burhan Demircan, nicknamed Burhan Pazarlama (Burhan Marketing), who has been hawking for 64 years in Istanbul's city lines ferries, passed away on March 13. He was 71.
Having received cancer treatment for a while, Demircan died at home at the age of 71 and was buried in Ihlamurkuyu Cemetery after a funeral prayer.

Police find nearly 240 blank firing guns buried in Istanbul's Üsküdar
Turkish police found nearly 240 blank firing guns buried underground in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul late on Sept. 27. The guns were found after an anonymous tip was received by police officers.

Do?ançay's works at special sales event
A total of 37 works, which were displayed last year at the Burhan Do?ançay Museum at an exhibit titled "Picture the World: Burhan Do?ançay as a Photographer," were presented to collectors during a special sales event of the late painter and photographer on Dec. 15.
The museum's director, Bergin Azer, said the photos would go on display in the geographies where they had been taken.
