Cultural Road Festival moves to Çanakkale
The ninth stop of the Turkish Cultural Road Festival, organized in 16 cities this year by the Culture and Tourism Ministry to contribute to Türkiye's brand value, will be the northwestern province of Çanakkale.
Çanakkale will host a variety of events such as concerts, exhibitions, workshops, talks and gastronomy experiences for nine days during the festival from Aug. 31 to Sept. 8.

The highest percentage of female shopkeepers by population is in the western province of Çanakkale, a recent report by the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK) has revealed.
German-Turkish journalist Deniz Yücel marries in jail
Deniz Yücel, a German-Turkish journalist for Die Welt newspaper who has been under arrest since February, has married his fiancée in jail, daily Cumhuriyet has reported.
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) lawmaker Şafak Pavey and Yücel's lawyer, Ferat Çağıl, also participated in the wedding ceremony between the journalist and Dilek Mayatürk in Silivri jail.

Renowned Turkish journalist Can Dündar launched a new Germany-based online news portal on Jan. 24, titled "Özgürüz" (We Are Free).
The date Jan. 24 was chosen to commemorate slain journalist Uğur Mumcu on the 24th anniversary of his assassination.
