Ljubljana’s iconic restaurant closes
Maxim, the legendary Ljubljana restaurant, has closed after serving as a hub of haute cuisine in the Slovenian capital for more than 50 years.
Located near Slovenia's parliament building, the headquarters of NLB and the Cankarjev Dom cultural centre, Maxim has for years been a place where the elite met either for business or pleasure.

Janina Kos picks up French Institute translation prize
The French Institute in Slovenia has presented its Charles Nodier Award to Janina Kos for her translation into Slovenian of The Anomaly by Herve Le Tellier. The winner was announced by the French Ambassador Florence Levy at a ceremony in Ljubljana's Cankarjev Dom on 21 April.
Young pianists vie for glory at new competition
A new competition for young pianists will be held as part of the Winter Festival in Ljubljana at the end of February and early March giving up-and-coming performers the chance to kick-start their concert careers.

Ukrainian community opposes Netrebko’s Ljubljana concert
Ljubljana – The Ukrainian community in Slovenia has called on the organiser of the Ljubljana Festival to cancel the concert by Russian soprano Anna Netrebko scheduled for later this month in a petition that has been signed by more than 700 people.
Scientific vaudeville to explore human evolution, fate
The goal was to "create a clever, entertaining and educational artwork about evolution, space and our place in it," Buljan was quoted as saying by Cankarjev Dom.
According to the head of the theatre and modern dance section at Cankarjev Dom, Andrej Jaklič, the co-production between the SNG Drama Ljubljana theatre, the MGL theatre and Cankarjev Dom is exceptional in many ways.
