Young pianists vie for glory at new competition

A new competition for young pianists will be held as part of the Winter Festival in Ljubljana at the end of February and early March giving up-and-coming performers the chance to kick-start their concert careers.

More than a hundred entrants registered and 30 have been short-listed in a process that world renowned Slovenian pianist Tomšič Srebotnjak, who chairs the jury, said was very demanding.

Barring any unexpected cancellations, 24 pianists from 16 countries are expected to compete. Six will make the finals and they will perform on 3 and 4 March at Cankarjev Dom...
