Police dismantle gang trafficking drugs from Europe to Israel on yachts

Greek police, with assistance from Israel, have arrested eight foreign nationals, dismantling a criminal ring that used yachts to traffic drugs from Europe to Israel.

The suspects, mainly from Israel and Ukraine, were arrested on Monday in Volos, central Greece, and appeared before a prosecutor on Wednesday, police said. Drug authorities are searching for more group members.

Coast Guard officers ambushed by armed men in central Athens after drug raid

Two Greek Coast Guard officers were injured when their unit was attacked by a group of about 50 masked individuals shortly after a drug-related raid in a house in the district of Exarchia on Thursday night.

Authorities had been tipped by an Iraqi national whom they had arrested earlier in Piraeus with 200 grams of cannabis and were looking for his supplier.

Cannabis farm found in Rethymno, 1 arrest

A 27-year-old man was being questioned over the weekend in connection with a cannabis plantation discovered in the region of Rethymno, northern Crete, on Friday.
Following a police operation in the area, authorities reportedly determined that the suspect had planted 546 cannabis trees on a farm.
According to police, the plantation was in a rural area of Mylopotamos.

Police seize 246 kg of cannabis in Epirus

Authorities in Epirus, northwestern Greece, seized 246 kilograms of cannabis in two police operations on Friday and Saturday.

Police arrested a 52-year-old woman on Saturday after finding 102 kg of the drug in her car in the region of Komboti in Arta.

On Friday, police confiscated 144 kg of cannabis found in an abandoned car in the region of Nea Selefkia in Thesprotia.
