Minister pledges full restoration of burned listed building
Culture Minister Lina Mendoni promised to restore a listed building in central Athens that was destroyed by fire on Friday morning.
The blaze at the neoclassical building on 43 Stadiou Street, which had been abandoned for years, ripped through the second floor, causing extended damage.

A fire that broke out on Friday morning in an abandoned, listed building in central Athens has been contained, the fire service said.
Media reports said the blaze started on the second floor of the neoclassical building located on 43 Stadiou Street.
There were no people inside the building, as some media reported, state-run news agency ANA-MPA said, citing the fire service.

Clinic with 37 Covid-19 cases to be probed
An Athens prosecutor launched an investigation on Thursday into whether criminal charges should be brought against the management of a private clinic in Peristeri, western Athens, after 37 people - 20 patients and 17 health professionals - tested positive for Covid-19, with three subsequently dying.

Shops gear up for easing of restrictions
Shops on central Ermou Street in Athens are preparing to reopen in early May when the government intends to relax restrictions it imposed in mid-March to contain the spread of Covid-19. The new plan on how restrictions will be gradually eased will be announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis early next week, possibly on Monday.
