One of the streets in the center of the Venezuelan capital Caracas, which is considered a historical symbol of the country, has been named the "Turkish Republic Street."

Türkiye's Ambassador to Caracas Aydan Karamanoğlu, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and Mayor Carmen Melendez attended the opening ceremony featuring folk dance groups of the two cultures.

Venezuela's government expelled the German ambassador Daniel Kriener on March 6 two days after he and diplomats from other embassies welcomed home opposition leader Juan Guaido at the Caracas airport.

Greece's Consul General to Venezuela, Aggelos Haritos, was found dead in a hotel room in Caracas, Greek television channel Skai reported on Thursday.

Turkey and Venezuela enjoy "historic" relations in many areas, including economy and trade, Turkey's ambassador in Caracas said on Sept. 29. 

Brazil on Dec. 26 ordered the top diplomat at Venezuela’s embassy, Gerardo Delgado, to leave the country, in retaliation for Caracas booting out the Brazilian ambassador.

On Wednesday, 27-year-old man died in the anti-government riots in the Venezuelan capital  Caracas, reported APF, according to Focus News Agency.

The death toll of the 40-days continuing riots in the South American country is already 38, said by the local prosecution.

Twelve people were killed in Caracas overnight following two days of mass street protests against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s beleaguered government.
Six people were also injured in the escalating violence, the public ministry said in a statement on Friday. The latest figures raised the total number of deaths during growing protests to 20 over the past three weeks.

At least 12 people died on Friday after rioting broke out at the streets of Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, between government opponents and the National Guard, according to The New York Times.
