Bulgaria's Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) has executed targeted police operations against online sexual exploitation of children across the country, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior. These operations, conducted over the past two months, resulted in the detention of nine individuals aged between 35 and 48.

The "children in safe teams" of the Family and Social Services Ministry has determined that 42,306 children who live, work or beg on the streets are at risk of not having a physically and mentally healthy life and receiving education as a result of its six-year field survey and study.

On its 75th anniversary, UNICEF warned that COVID-19 is rolling back virtually every measure of progress for children, including a staggering 100 million more children being plunged into poverty.

Three European countries are the worst

Around half a billion people work fewer paid hours than they would like, or are not getting enough access to paid work, shows a study published by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Monday, which also forecasts that unemployment will rise by about 2.5 million this year, the UN reported.

According to the International Labor Organization, 152 million children worldwide work instead of going to school.

Most of them are employed in agriculture. This is why this year's motto of the campaign is "Children should not work in the field but for their dreams."

The total number of child workers, aged 15-17, were 708,000 in 2016, slightly lower than the 716,000 in the previous year, according to a report prepared by the Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim-Sen) for National Sovereignty and Children's Day on April 23, the anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Parliament. 

More than 150 million children, or nearly one in 10 globally, are victims of forced labor and progress in reducing that number has slowed, a leading United Nations' anti-slavery group said on Sept. 19.
