Tourism sees hirings data post a new record in May
The particularly positive outlook for Greek tourism this year led to a major increase in hirings last month, with the Labor Ministry's Ergani hirings database registering a new record.

More than half of new jobs are part time, database figures show
Flexible forms of labor are gaining increasing dominance in the Greek job market, an analysis of the Labor Ministry's Ergani database for the first 11 months of the year has shown.
According to data published on Tuesday, 39,221 jobs were lost in November, though 128,230 new ones were created in January to October, making this the best year in job generation since 2001.
August proves an arid month for salaried jobs
The private sector in Greece saw 14,402 salaried positions disappear last month, according to the monthly data recorded at the Labor Ministry's Ergani register. It is noted that departures normally outnumber hirings in Greece in August.

Tourism boosts employment in June
The hirings-departures balance of the Labor Ministry's Ergani database showed a surplus of 40,449 jobs in June.
That is attributed to the beginning of the tourism season saw hirings soar.
In the first six months of the year hirings outnumbered departures by 255,903.

Worrying shrinkage in October employment
Worries are growing over the course of the local labor market, as salaried employment fell by a considerable 82,810 jobs last month, hitting a 15-year low. And this during a period when six out of the every 10 jobs created belong to the flexible-labor categories.

Private sector salaried employment posted an increase in February for the first time after five months of decline, the Labor Ministry?s hirings register Ergani showed on Wednesday. The balance of hirings and departures from the labor market was 15,124 jobs in the green.

More layoffs than new jobs last month

Last year produced a positive balance in terms of jobs, as within a year 99,112 more were created than those lost, even though dismissals outnumbered hirings by 91,761 in the last four months of the year, according to Labor Ministry data released on Wednesday.
