Slovenia to spotlight 65 writers at Frankfurt Book Fair
Slovenia will feature 65 writers as it appears for the first time as the guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair from 18 to 22 October this year. The country hopes that, as a result of its diverse presentation at the fair, interest in its literature, and culture in general, will increase and more books will be translated into foreign languages.

German-Turkish lawyer gets prize for 'civil courage'
A German-Turkish lawyer, who represented families of the Turkish victims killed by the NSU, a neo-Nazi terror group, was awarded the "Ludwig Beck Award for Civil Courage" on July 2.
Seda Başay-Yıldız, a prominent lawyer at Frankfurt Bar Association, received the award from the mayor of Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hesse, Germany.

According to the Associated Press, several people were attacked with a knife by a man, who was arrested.
Local police stated on Twitter that none of the injured suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police did not release details about the attacker, nor did they specify how many people were injured.
Frankfurt book fair to take place as scheduled
Frankfurt's annual book fair - the world's largest - will take place as scheduled in mid-October, its organizers said on May 27, a sign of some return to normality amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The event usually draws more than 300,000 visitors, and dates back to the 15th century when Johannes Gutenberg
introduced the mass printing of books in nearby Mainz.
