Türkiye witnessed a notable surge in its museum and cultural heritage numbers in 2022, according to the latest data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

The report highlights significant growth in the number of museums, artworks, visitors and cultural properties, signaling a recovery in the cultural sector after the COVID-19 pandemic.

With an abundance of historical monuments, buildings and museums, Turkey has been a paradise for art enthusiasts, where over 8.91 million people visited in 2020 to witness the beauty of its museums and archaeological sites with their naked eye.

The sites have an important role in the context of protecting cultural heritage, transferring it to future generations and generating a collective memory.

This year's Night of Museums marks a record high participation - with more than 60 partner institutions in Bucharest and events held in 36 counties, event manager Dragos Neamu announced on Wednesday. "What makes me most happy is that at each edition we improved our participation record.
