Communist party candidate Babis Angourakis, 63, dies
Babis Angourakis, 63, a Greek Communist Party (KKE) candidate for the May 25 European Parliament elections, died on Monday night at an Athens hospital, where he had been rushed after suffering an aneurism.
Angourakis was born in Bucharest in 1951 and studied information technology in Dresden.
Opposition parties unhappy about election funding rules
Democratic Left (DIMAR) joined SYRIZA on Saturday in criticizing a government decision that will see New Democracy and PASOK get the majority of state funding for the European Parliament election campaigns.
KKE campaign booth attacked in Thessaloniki
A Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Communist Party (KKE) election stand in Thessaloniki early Saturday.
The local KKE office called the attack on on its stand in Socratous Street cowardly.
It is not the first such attack during the campaign for this months local and European Parliament elections.

Writer slammed for questioning Holy Fire
Politicians round on To Potami backer Nikos Dimou for comment on Easter tradition
Writer Nikos Dimou came in for criticism Wednesday for suggesting that the Holy Fire brought back from Jerusalem each Easter Saturday is not the result of a miracle and that Greece should not spend money on a jet to bring it to Athens.

Greece has turned a page, says gov't official
The government welcomed an agreement by eurozone finance ministers in Brussels late on Friday to extend Greece?s financial rescue by four months, saying it would give the newly-installed administration time to negotiate a new deal.
