A Parliament committee hearing on Wednesday turned emotional as opposition lawmakers and a relative of a victim of urban terrorists charged that a draft bill by the leftist government is essentially "tailored-made" to release a notorious "November 17" assassin from prison.

Argentina's legendary ex-footballer Diego Maradona will play in a "pro-peace match" in Bogota this month to support Colombia's ongoing peace process, officials said Sunday.
The game will take place on April 10 at Techo stadium in Bogota, and will include other football greats whose names were not immediately released, a statement from the mayor's office said.

Suspect won't post bail unless convict's girlfriend is freed
The mother of two convicted members of guerrilla group Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos, refused on Wednesday to post the 10,000-euro bail payment that would secure her conditional release, saying she would only pay if the girlfriend of one of her two sons is also released from pretrial custody.

A council of appeals court judges decided on Tuesday to order the conditional release of the mother of two convicted members of the guerrilla group Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos.
New Xeros safe house found near Athens, police say
Police have found another safe house they believed was used by November 17 member Christodoulos Xeros while he was on the run last year.
Xeros was recaptured in January after spending 12 months evading authorities. He had failed to return to Korydallos Prison from a 9-day furlough.

Police find planned Korydallos prison bombing testing ground
The police have discovered the location where convicted terrorist Christodoulos Xiros and the Radical anarchist Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei conducted tests for the planned bombing of high-security Korydallos prison. The area was at a building 29.5 km off the old Athens-Corinth national highway.

Police hold back on intervening in Athens Law School sit-in
Authorities at Athens University and Athens Law School did not call in the police Friday when some 200 anarchists staged a sit-in at the latter institution. The anarchists took over the Law School in the morning.
Some were carrying wooden clubs and fire extinguishers, according to witnesses. The students and lecturers who were in the building were forced out.
