USR: Bill on state of alert favors politicization of public administration
Save Romania Union (USR) cautioned in a press release on Tuesday that the Government's bill on the state of alert "favors the politicization of the public administration" and announced that it drew up a series of amendments, including on the termination, after six months, of the labour contracts of the persons employed without contest in public institutions.
Head of PM Chancellery Danca: Gov't approved, with amendaments, the law on election of mayors in two rounds
The Government approved the final version, with amendments, of the draft law on the election of mayors in two rounds for which it plans to assume responsibility in Parliament on Wednesday, announced the head of Prime Minister's Chancellery, Ionel Danca.
UPDATE Chamber passes bill repealing special state pensions
On Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies passed a bill repealing special state pensions, 247 to nil and 21 abstentions. The bill provides for the repeal of special state pensions, with the exception of the pensions for the military and police.
President Putin Submitted a Package of Constitutional Amendments to Parliament
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday submitted a package of constitutional amendments to parliament less than a week after announcing a surprise plan to reform the political system.
The bill, which can be found on the website of the lower house State Duma's website, proposes changes, including the transfer of some power outside the presidency.
Opportunity for change
The constitutional revision currently being undertaken by Greek lawmakers is not ambitious. It has failed to address numerous anachronisms that remain in the country's Constitution. However, the amendments that could still be pushed through are not negligible.

Turkish parliament adopts first package of judicial reform
The Turkish Parliament on Oct. 17 adopted a bill of 39 articles - the first package of the Judicial Reform Strategy Document. The bill oversees amendments in 15 pieces of legislation.
Extraordinary session starts today, MPs to discuss laws on education
The agenda of the session will include Proposal to the Law on the Dual Model of Studies in Higher Education, Proposal on the Law on Regulated Professions and the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and Amendments to the Patents Act.
Stick to procedure
The excuse that the government had resorted to in early August when it deviated from the norm in the way it legislated in Parliament did initially carry some water.
At the time, the government sought to justify its 11th hour amendments to legislation concerning labor relations on the grounds that the issue had to be resolved before Parliament closed for the summer recess.

Bulgarian National Assembly Postpones Launch of Toll System to 1 March 2020
The National Assembly has adopted amendments to the Roads Act on second reading, a Focus News Agency reporter said. The amendments were tabled by GERB MP Alexander Nenkov and a group of MPs.
