Six firms submit bids to lease Vouliagmeni beach

Six companies have made bids to Greece Public Properties Company (ETAD) to lease Vouliagmeni beach in southern Athens for at least the next 15 years.

ETAD opened the sealed bids on Tuesday. The firm that wins the tender will have to pay a lump sum of 1 million euros and then 15 percent of its annual turnover to the state.

Consumer Watchdog Warns Against Dishonest Deals With the Elderly

Bulgaria's Consumer Protection Commission (KZP) warned a telecom against inducing the elderly to sign unfavourable for them subscription plans, reports Dnes.bg.

According to the results of a KZP inspection, the telecom employees were taking an advantage of the vulnerability of the elderly and made them sign long term contracts they do not understand and accept. 

Planned changes to criticized subcontractor system stir controversy

A draft law that foresees fundamental changes to the much-criticized subcontractor labor system in Turkey has sparked debate, amid outcry over the issue prompted by the May 13 Soma mine disaster.

While defenders of the draft say it will curtail the subcontractor system, critics suggest that it will actually encourage the system to spread.
