Controversies during the Turkish general election, November

Anne Brasseur, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has expressed her concerns about attacks targeting daily Hürriyet and the investigation launched by a prosecutor into the Do?an Media Group.

A deputy from Turkey?s Justice and Development Party (AKP) who gave a fiery speech to a group of protesters attacking daily Hürriyet?s headquarters in Istanbul on Sept. 6 is seen threatening Hürriyet journalists and expressing his regret that they ?never beat them in the past? in a newly-surfaced video.

Question one is about the fact that there were no funerals for killed security forces before the June election. What happened for funerals to start again after the election? 

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has condemned police forces for attacks wounding its lawmakers, while suggesting the police forces acted as police of the Justice and Development Party (AKP).

The patience of Turks is running thin. Calls for regional curfews if not emergency rule are increasing. The government has been turning a blind eye and deaf ear to attacks on its critics, sufficing with lip service and late condemnations.

17 suspects, who were identified to have taken part in two attacks over the span of three days against daily Hürriyet?s headquarters in Istanbul, were released after being interrogated. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has said he disapproves any attacks on premises of political parties and condemned the perpetrators, after the hundreds of bureaus of the Kurdish problem-focused Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) were stormed across Turkey following recent deadly terrorist acts. 

The U.S. State Department on Sept. 9 condemned the latest attacks against the Kurdish problem-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), as well as the second attack targeting Hürriyet headquarters in Istanbul on Sept. 8.

State spokesperson John Kirby said attacks against HDP offices across Turkey were "unacceptable," while also condemning mob violence targeting media outlets.

The main enemy of the pro-Kurdish People?s Democratic Party?s (HDP) turns out to be the outlawed Kurdistan Workers? Party (PKK). This group is proving its credentials as a terrorist organization once again, and seems more than ready to douse the fire with more petrol in the hope of benefiting from the conflagration.  

On Sept. 8, Turkey survived what could easily have been one of the darkest dates in the country?s history.
