Costa-Gavras film on Varoufakis account of 2015 talks with creditors gets grant
The official government website, Diavgeia, has published a decision by Media Minister Nikos Pappas to grant funding of nearly 630,000 euros to Greek-French filmmaker Costa-Gavras for a project based on a book by Greece's controversial former finance minister.
Open-Air Film Festival | Athens | To August 29
The Athens Open-Air Film Festival continues on Friday, July 6, with the 1965 French mystery "The Sleeping Car Murders" (Compartiment tueurs), directed by Costa-Gavras from the novel by Sebastien Japrisot, starring Simone Signoret, Michel Piccoli, Yves Montand and Jean-Louis Trintignant. This year's festival program includes 18 classic films, many of which are famous literary adaptations.

Costa-Gavras award at Cannes Film Festival (video)
The Cannes Film Festival organized the screening of Greek-French director Costa-Gavras, “Z”. The restored version of the work was created in honor of the award-winning director and producer.
Thierry Frémaux, artistic director of the Cannes Film Festival, praised the director’s work for its ability to rip-roar through borders as a carrier of culture messages across Europe.
