Anti-Money Laundering Authority orders freezing of NGO head’s assets

The head of Greece's Anti-Money Laundering Authority ordered on Wednesday the freezing of all assets of human rights activist Panayote Dimitras, following an investigation into his activities.

According to the authority's investigation, the funding he received, mainly from the EU, to support human rights causes was used for other purposes than those claimed.

A matter of integrity

The integrity of the exam process in Greek public education is one of the achievements of the system. At the very least, it needs to be properly protected, even if it means investing in specialized safeguards against malicious cyberattacks.

The standing of public education as a whole depends on the validity of the exams and their smooth operation.

Trolley bus driver arrested for carrying airgun

Police arrested on Wednesday night a trolley bus driver after an anonymous tip informing them that the man he was carrying a weapon.

The driver, who serves route 20 from Faliro to Drapetsona, was detained  in Piraeus. During the search, officers found an air gun and a police baton which were confiscated. 

The suspect will be led before a prosecutor on Thursday.
