Bulgaria: A Woman from Pernik was Killed in her Home, her Husband was Detained

The police in Pernik detained a 41-year-old man from Pernik, suspected of having caused the death of his wife.

Around 4:30 a.m. on April 29, a report was received that a 43-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment on Yu. Gagarin Street. Police officers responded immediately and pre-trial proceedings were initiated.

Anti-Money laundering authority to investigate Velopoulos party over payments

The Independent Anti-Money Laundering Authority has ordered an investigation into allegations that the Greek Solution party took cash payments from its MPs without issuing receipts.

Outgoing party MPs Antonis Mylonakis and Aikaterini Alexopoulou said that the party, which is led by Kyriakos Velopoulos, took the money from its MPs.

Swedish police arrest man for Athens bank safe deposit box heist

Swedish police have arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of involvement in the case of the robbery from five safe deposit boxes in an Athens bank in July 2022.

Earlier this month, Greek police said they had identified three members of an international crime gang as being behind the theft of the contents of the safe deposit boxes in the Nea Smyrni suburb.

Migrant trafficking seen behind clash in central Thessaloniki

A 31-year-old Iraqi man was injured during an altercation between an undisclosed number of foreign nationals at midnight on Wednesday in Antigonidis Square, in downtown Thessaloniki. 

Two Syrian nationals were arrested for possessing items such as a wooden bat but no involvement in the incident has been established.

Building defenses in schools

The increase in violence and bullying at Greek schools is not and should not be treated as a public order issue.

Educators should have the tools to mobilize the school community and social services when they see a student showing problematic behavior, before the problem reaches the police. 

Schools themselves need to be strengthened to control the bullying epidemic.
