Districts of Turkey

A total of 67 districts, each inhabited by over 100,000 residents and positioned at a minimum distance of 30 kilometers from the city center, could be set to become provinces, according to the Turkish Chamber of Survey and Cadastre Engineers (HKMO).

A new bird species, smew duck, was spotted in Lake Çıldır in eastern Turkey.

A team from the Turkish conservation society Kuzeydoğa Association spotted the duck in the Taşbaşı village in the eastern Kars province.

Emrah Çoban, the coordinator of the association, told Anadolu Agency that their regular birdwatching bore fruit.

Most parts of Lake Çıldır in eastern Turkey have frozen yet again amid harsh winter conditions, which is good news for those who are into outdoor activities, as a local initiative provides an opportunity for ice-cycling on the frozen lake. (Source: AA)
