Greece set to import foreign workers

Salaries of Government Employees in Bulgaria will Rise by 10%
The Government on 9th of January adopted amendments to the Ordinance on the Salaries of Civil Servants. The change is based on the "pay according to performance" principle: each civil servant will receive remuneration in line with the results achieved, reports BNT.
The salaries of civil servants will be increased by 10% since January this year.
Employment concentrated in a few categories
A quarter of employed people in Greece describe themselves as sales assistants, farmers or office workers. Civil servants, retail commerce staff (excluding sales assistants) and social service workers also comprise a quarter of the total number of poeple employed, a new report shows.

Protesting contract workers brave the rain
Contract workers employed at municipalities across Attica brave the wet weather to stage a demonstration outside the Interior Ministry in Athens, on Thursday. Their labor union, OTA, declared a work stoppage Thursday demanding the permanent hiring of contract workers by local authorities and the immediate recruitment of more staff to plug gaps in services.

Qatar's ruler has introduced a law giving broad protection to tens of thousands of foreigners working as maids, cooks, cleaners and nannies, addressing some concerns long highlighted by human rights groups.

The government and unions have come to an agreement over a salary rise offer for millions of civil servants and retired civil servants in Turkey, covering 2018 and 2019.
