Concern over whooping cough surge
Amid an alarming outbreak of whooping cough, the Health Ministry is urging all pregnant women to get vaccinated against the disease.
Since the beginning of the year until mid-June, 264 cases of whooping cough were recorded in Greece, compared to just nine reported throughout 2023.
Of the 264 cases, 34 were reported in the first 13 days of June.

A third booster dose will be administered in Bulgaria soon. There will be such a recommendation for certain risk groups, told bTV the director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Prof. Iva Hristova. This dose is administered 8 months after the second vaccine shot and is aimed to boost immunity.
Administration of Moderna vaccine underway nationwide
The National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) announced that the administration of the Moderna vaccine at national level started on Thursday.

He told Prva TV that he had talked to his friends worldwide in order to provide more vaccines.
"Today, it is harder to get a vaccine than a nuclear weapon," he said.
Vui said that he expected 50.000 people to be vaccinated today.
"We are ninth in the world, I think we can be 6th or 9th in the next 3 days," he said.

All existing measures remain in force, it was decided at today's session of the Crisis Staff for combating coronavirus, epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovi said.
He said that the current improvement of the epidemiological situation should not deceive us to think that "we are in a controlled situation".
Dr Srdja Jankovic on the safety of vaccines
He told Prva TV that each of them protects and can significantly help, and that when it is proven that one vaccine is better than the other, it will go into the protocols.
