Ukraine intensifies its long-range strikes on Russia
Ukraine has sunk a Russian submarine and hit a Russian airfield, in line with a surge of long-range attacks against Russian targets, officials said.
The uptick in attacks since July come as Ukraine mounts pressure on allies to allow it to use long-range missiles to strike targets in Russia. Western allies, in particular the U.S., have so far resisted, fearing escalation from Moscow.
Ukrainian Drones Reach 1,800 km into Russia, Confirming Long-Range Strike Capability
A Ukrainian drone recently crashed in the Ostrogozhsky district of Voronezh region, causing damage to a utility infrastructure facility in the settlement of Gasoprovo and igniting a fire, according to Alexander Gusev, the governor of the region. Russian air defenses detected and shot down the drone, but not before it caused damage to the roof of a building.
Turkish forces 'neutralize' 15 PKK members in Iraq, Syria
A total of 15 PKK members have been "neutralized" in Iraq and Syria, the Defense Ministry said on July 26.
Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to indicate that the individuals in question have surrendered, been killed or captured.
According to a statement from the ministry, 11 of them were "neutralized" in northern Iraq's Qandil, Assos, Gara and Hakurk regions.
Greek frigate defends commercial ship from drone attack in the Red Sea
The Greek frigate Psara provided protection to a commercial ship in the Gulf of Aden early Sunday morning following a drone attack.
During the European operation Aspides in the Red Sea, the frigate successfully intercepted a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using its antidrone system. At least one drone was shot down, and the others were driven away.
Patriot System Used as Ukraine Downs Second Russian A-50 Radar Plane in Two Months
In February 2024, Russia confirmed that a Ukrainian missile shot down a Russian A-50 "flying radar" over the Krasnodar Territory. This incident led to the in absentia arrest of a Ukrainian army colonel, whom Russian authorities suspect of ordering the attack on February 23. The downing resulted in the deaths of 10 crew members.
Longest Air Alert of the War in Kharkiv as Russian Offensive and Drone Attacks Intensify
For 16 hours, the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv remained under air alert, the longest duration since the war began. The alert was lifted a few hours after midnight.
Ukraine says hit Russian oil refinery south of Moscow
Ukraine on Wednesday hit a Russian oil refinery in Ryazan, south of Moscow, in a new drone attack on Russia's energy infrastructure, authorities said.
Ukraine has launched drones into Russia regularly since last year as the war between the two drags on, increasingly targeting sites such as factories and oil refineries deep inside Russia.
Russian Rocket Attack Hits Kharkiv Again
Reports emerged last night of renewed Russian missile fire targeting the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, intensifying fears of escalating conflict in the region. The barrage of rockets resulted in loud explosions and caused minor injuries to two individuals, Mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed.

Russia Strikes Energy Sites in Southern Ukraine
In a continuation of its military offensive against Ukraine, Russia conducted airstrikes on two energy sites in southern Ukraine, causing temporary power outages in the region. Ukrainian officials reported that the strikes targeted a substation in Mykolaiv and production facilities in the Odesa region.

Ukraine claims destroyed Russian planes in overnight drone attack
Ukraine said Friday it had destroyed at least six Russian military planes at an airbase in the southern Rostov region in a barrage of overnight drone attacks.
Kiev launched once of its largest overnight attacks in weeks, firing more than 50 drones at Russian territory, according to Russia's defence ministry.
