Greek police have uncovered a significant arms cache hidden in a storage unit in the Pangrati district of Athens, raising concerns about the potential resurgence of urban guerrilla activity.

New evidence is coming to light regarding the seizure of large quantities of explosives and firearms following raids in Western Attica aimed at dismantling what authorities described as a significant criminal weapons storage and distribution network.

A large cache of weapons and explosives was discovered yesterday, Monday (4/11), by the Sub-Directorate of Anti-Trafficking and Trade of Objects within the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in the area of Western Attica.

The police are currently investigating an explosion involving a homemade bomb outside a residential property in Aspropyrgos, located to the west of Athens.

A large amount of explosive material was found by the police on the island of Zakynthos on Friday in the village of Keri.

More specifically, 800 kilos of ammonium dynamite was found and confiscated. The material was stored in a small room in the basement of an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the village.

Two people were arrested for illegal possession and transport of explosives in the town of Malesina in central Greece on Wednesday night as they prepared to go fishing with dynamite.
