Four human traffickers arrested in Rhodope and Evros
Four human traffickers, three foreigners and one Greek, were arrested on Saturday in the northern regions of Rhodope and Evros.
Police from the Rhodope and Alexandroupolis departments made the arrests.
Polihni: 61-year-old man who had disappeared a month ago was found dead
The case of the disappearance of a 61-year-old man from the area of Polichni, in Thessaloniki, had a tragic ending.
As announced by the Life Line, the man was found dead on August 7, 2024 by employees of the maintenance team of the company EGNATIA ODOS S.A. at the exit stream of the Thessaloniki – Athens highway, at the height of the Thessaloniki central meat market.
Epirus’ journey from isolation to innovation
Before the opening of the Egnatia highway in 2009, Epirus was cut off from the rest of Greece. The airport at Ioannina, often blanketed in fog, has regular flight cancellations. Most residents tell stories of desperation and being trapped in the snow at the Katara Pass, or of the difficult and time-consuming journey to Athens. The agreement for the concession of Egnatia Odos between the Greek state and the Asset Development Fund (TAIPED), as well as the company Nea Egnatia Odos and the original shareholders, GEK Terna and Egis Projects was signed on Friday, according to TAIPED.

Traffic regulations on Egnatia Odos due to tunnel maintenance
Motorists using the Egnatia Odos highway (A2) around the Igoumenitsa area may face some delays through Wednesday as maintenance work is carried out on the Aktio-Preveza Undersea Tunnel.
Farmer protests spread to northern Greece

Two dozen undocumented migrants nabbed over holidays
A total of 24 migrants who had illegally entered Greece from the land border with Turkey at Evros in northeastern Greece were intercepted on two separate occasions by the Alexandroupoli police department on New Year's Eve and January 1.

Border police in northeastern Greece blocked four separate attempts by illegal migrants to cross into the country on Friday and Saturday and arrested a total of four traffickers, all foreign nationals.
