Iraqi security forces fired tear gas and live rounds during clashes with anti-government protesters overnight and on Jan. 20 morning in Baghdad, wounding at least 13 demonstrators and prompting authorities to close key streets and thoroughfares leading to the city center, officials said.
Lebanon to release protesters detained after night of riots
Lebanon's public prosecutor ordered the release on Jan. 19 of more than 30 people detained the previous evening, according to the National State News agency, in the worst day of violence since protests erupted three months ago.
The public prosecutor said all 34 arrested are to be released, except those with other pending cases.
