Journalist Lefteris Giannakopoulos died at the age of 67

Journalist Lefteris Giannakopoulos has lost his battle for life after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. ESIEA announced the sad news.

Lefteris Giannakopoulos was one of the most hard-working, modest, and creative people in the Greek media in recent decades, who served, among others, as editorial director of “Vima tis Kyriakis”.

French national arrested at Athens airport for tax fraud

A French national was arrested on Wednesday at noon at the Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, prosecuted with a European arrest warrant by the French authorities for fraud. 

The 60-year-old, the executive director of a car sales company, was arrested for tax evasion costing the French state up to 2,5 million euros.

Athens airport flying higher

Passenger traffic this year at the Athens airport, which last year handled 22.7 million travelers, is expected to exceed the performance of 2019. That figure was up significantly, by 98.3%, compared to 2021, but still was 11.1% short of 2019.
