Only technical issues open after teleconference with creditors, says official

Only technical issues remain to be resolved between Greece and its creditors to complete the compliance report required by the Eurogroup to complete the fourth program review in its next meeting on June 21, a government official said on Monday after a teleconference.

Bus services to be disrupted on Tuesday and Thursday

Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) employees are planning a new round of work stoppages on Tuesday to protest the planned closure of the bus depot at Elliniko, southern Athens, and the anticipated job losses that it will entail.

As a result of the walkouts, buses will run on a restricted service, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Plan to activate electronic barriers on metro gathering pace

Transport authorities are moving forward with long-delayed activation of electronic barriers which started operating at Syntagma metro station in central Athens on Sunday with several more stations on the metro network to follow suit by March 15.

Barriers for disabled commuters will remain open until March 15.

Blast outside linens store rocks Glyfada in early hours

A major explosion outside a store selling linens and other household goods rocked the upscale southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada in the early hours of Tuesday.

The blast occurred shortly before 4 a.m. at 49 Vouliagmenis Avenue and was caused by a powerful explosive device placed outside the business, which sustained extensive damage.

No injuries were reported.

Heading from one review to the next

Greece will find itself in the rather odd position on Monday of still trying to complete its third review but also launching the fourth inspection by the institutions. It is a fitting moment in the sense that it marks the gradual transition from securing funding from its lenders to stay afloat to being able to propel itself into the future.

Progress on key sell-off fronts of Elliniko and OLTH

Two key steps for the implementation of much-needed privatization projects in Greece were taken on Thursday, with the Council of State approving the draft presidential decree for the development of the old Athens airport at Elliniko, and Parliament's ratification of the concession contract for Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH).
