Gülşen cancels concerts after row over remarks on religious schools
Famous pop singer Gülşen Bayraktar Çolakoğlu, who came under controversy and is facing trial on charges of "inciting hatred" over her remarks she made about "İmam Hatip" religious schools, has decided to cancel some 50 shows until the new year.
Kustendorf Festival opens
Italian film director Paolo Sorrentino on Tuesday opened the 11th Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival.
The event, founded by Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica, is held each year in the village of Mokra Gora, on Mt. Zlatibor, in the west of the country.

Ukraine prepared to "judge" Serbian filmmaker Kusturica
Ukraine is prepared to put Emir Kusturica on trial for his "calls to separatism," Vecernje Novosti is reporting, citing a source from the Ukrainian embassy.
For the same reason, the renowned Serbian filmmaker is facing a five-year ban on entering the territory of that country.

Ministry launches investigation into Syrian child's death in southern Turkey
A seven-year-old Syrian child has died after being turned away from four hospitals in the southern Turkish province of Antalya due to his lack of a valid ID.
Ali İzzettin Ahmed was rejected by four hospitals despite suffering from a high fever, and he lost his life after returning to his home in Antalya's Muratpaşa district, Doğan News Agency reported on Jan. 4.
