Arson investigators arrive on Kythera, ND lambasts gov't response

Arson investigators belonging to the Fire Service were on Kythera Monday to ascertain the cause of the devastating blaze on the Greek island.

The blaze, which broke out Friday morning, was mostly contained on Monday after consuming at least 2,000 hectares of forest and farmland.

The fire near the village of Izvorishte in Burgas is limited, the press center of the Ministry of Interior reports. Ten fire teams, volunteers, equipment from Burgas Municipality, as well as agricultural machinery continue the fire-fighting activities.

Turkish energy watchdog gives 49-year power generation license to Akkuyu nuclear company

Turkey's energy watchdog has given a power generation license to Akkuyu Nuclear JSC for a 49-year period, starting as of June 15. 

In a statement, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) reclled that it had issued a preliminary license for power generation to the company for a three-year period.
