Turkey remembers 1944 deportation of Ahıska Turks

Turkey on Nov. 14 marked the 77th anniversary of the deportation of Ahıska Turks during the Soviet era.

On Nov. 14, 1944, around 100,000 Ahıska Turks were deported from their ancestral lands in Georgia's Meskheti region to distant parts of the Soviet Union, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

New coalition gov't in Turkish Cyprus wins vote of confidence

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (AA) - The new coalition government formed in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) won the vote of confidence on Nov. 13. 

The Assembly of the Republic held an extraordinary meeting to vote for the coalition of National Unity Party (UBP) and the Democrat Party (DP).

North Cyprus to go to early polls in January

All political parties in Turkish Cyprus have come to a mutual agreement to hold an early election on Jan. 22, 2022, according to a statement released on Nov. 8 by North Cyprus' Parliament Press Office.

"The chairmen of six political parties gathered in a meeting held by Parliament Speaker Önder Sennaroğlu and took the decision," it said.
