Turkish military responds to PKK attacks: TSK

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) targeted a military base with two mortar attacks in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish general staff said in a statement on June 7.

The PKK attacked the Da?l?ca military base close to the Iraqi border in Hakkari province at around 12.35 p.m. local time (10.35 GMT) on June 6, the statement said, adding that there were no casualties.

HDP ready to resume peace process, even with Turkish nationalist MHP

A leading figure in the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has stunned many by saying his party, which focuses on the Kurdish issue, could even do a deal with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in order to resume the stalled peace process after the June 7 parliamentary election.

?Both party organizations and citizens in Anatolia are apathetic, in silence. We don?t know what will be result of this apathy,? Erdo?an said late May 21 speaking in a televised interview. 

?mral? delegation to meet KCK figures in Kandil

A group of politicians known as the ??mral? delegation? headed to the Kandil mountains in northern Iraq early May 18 to meet with senior leaders from the outlawed Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), as their repeated demands to meet with the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, imprisoned in ?mral? island, have been rejected since April 5.

Turkish court rules peaceful demonstrators do not need permission

An Istanbul court that acquitted 26 people detained during the Gezi Park protests in the summer of 2013 has stated in its reasoned ruling that people do not have to get official permission for peaceful demonstrations, and demonstrations held without permission are not necessarily violent.
