European Auditors will Check how Money is Spent on Roads in Bulgaria and 3 More Countries

The European Court of Auditors has announced that it is starting to audit the EU funding of the road network connecting the Member States and their regions. The auditors will look at whether the European Commission's actions and the funds allocated provide progress for Member States to timely network completion and better connectivity for citizens, the institution said.

Kos to receive 2.5 mln euros in disaster relief

The southeastern Aegean island of Kos will receive aid amounting to 2.5 million euros after the European Commission proposed the disbursement of funds totaling 34 million euros from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) to help member-states Greece, Poland, Lithuania and Bulgaria that were struck by natural disasters in 2017.

Lesvos to get 1.3 mln in EU aid for quake damage

The eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, which was struck by a deadly earthquake last summer, is set to receive 1.3 million euros from the European Union's Solidarity Fund, according to a proposal by the EU's Regional Policy Commission.

The sum is part of a total 104 million euros that the Commission wants to disburse to four EU member-states that were hit by natural disasters in 2017.

EC grants 16.2 mln euros to Greece and Bulgaria after natural disasters

The Commission decided to grant aid worth €16.2 million from the EU Solidarity Fund to Greece and Bulgaria following natural disasters that occurred in the winter of 2015. Greece suffered from wide-spread flooding affecting five of its regions, while considerable damage was caused in Bulgaria due to severe winter conditions.
