Unidentified Gunman Opens Fire in FSB Office in Russia's Khabarovsk

An unidentified gunman opened fire in the receiving office of the local branch of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk on Friday, the FSB Public Relations Center told TASS.

"At 17:02 local time (06:02 GMT), an unidentified man entered the FSB receiving office and opened fire before crossing the control zone," the Center said.

Eleven people were killed and dozens more injured as an explosion rocked the Saint Petersburg metro on April 3, in what Russian authorities described as an "act of terror".
 
Authorities shut down the metro system in Russia's second city for several hours as security services said they had also defused a bomb at a second metro station.
 

Russia Introduces Border Controls with Belarus

Russian authorities have introduced border checks with Belarus days after Minsk's decision to scrap short-term visas for nationals of 80 states.

The measure has been ordered by Russia's domestic security service FSB Aleksandr Bortnikov, according to Sputnik News.

Russian media do not give an explicit link between the border controls and the visa waiver.

Russia Detains Suspected IS Cell Plotting Attacks in Moscow, St. Petersburg

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained seven suspected members of the Islamic State group who allegedly planned terrorist attacks in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Urals.

The group, arrested in Yekaterinburg, comprised citizens of Russia and countries of Central Asia and was led by one of its members who had  arrived from Turkey, FSB said in a statement on Monday.
