Greek Police, foreign ministry on alert after Greek policeman arrested in Turkey
Greek Police and the foreign ministry are in a state of alert after a Greek policeman on trip to the city of Edirne was arrested.
The 41-year-old police sergeant is serving in the Feres police precinct in the Greek-Turkish border area of Evros and hails from the village of Antheia.
Sources say the policemen has been arrested, possibly by the Turkish gendarmerie.
Chrysochoidis to inspect Evros border amid reports of reinforcements
Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis was on Wednesday expected to carry out an inspection along the country's land border with Turkey amid reports that Greek police decided to strengthen the area's defenses with the mobilization of additional forces.

Ministry dismisses reports of ‘invasion’ of Greek territory as ‘fake news’
The Foreign Ministry on Saturday dismissed as "fake news" reports that Turkish soldiers have "invaded and occupied" a patch of Greek land in the northeastern Evros border area.
"There is no foreign force on Greek territory," the ministry said in a statement, responding to reports in British and other media.
Decomposing body found on the banks of Evros
Greek Police said it found on Monday afternoon the decomposed body on the banks of the Evros river, the natural border that separates Greece from Turkey.
The local police station of Feres has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Costume wigs found at border point to orchestrated plan
A collection of costume wigs discovered on the bank of Evros River on the Greek-Turkish land border points to an orchestrated plan to disguise male migrants as women, reports suggested on Thursday.
The long-haired wigs were found in the area of Feres.
Turkish convicts who slipped out of prison stopped near the border
Two Turkish nationals serving life sentences who escaped from a prison in Kasandra, Halkidiki, in northern Greece, on Thursday were located in Evros in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
Officers from the precinct in Feres, near the Turkish border, found the two fugitives at around 4 a.m.
